Farewell, Mainland China…Hello Macau!

February 14, 2015 was the day I left Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, Mainland China, my first missionary assignment. This was a bittersweet day( both a sad and a happy day).  Sad because I was leaving Mainland China, my friends and my co-laborers in Christ and happy because this day was also the day I am entering the land of my calling, the land which God has promised to me in my spirit and this is the Land of  Macau, China.

I have lived in Zhongshan City, China for about 2 years, 5 months and 7 days to be exact.  Living in China was one of the best things that ever happened in my life.  I am grateful to God for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to live, teach and do mission work there.  I have gained so many Chinese friends there and they will be my friends for life.  I got to know their culture, traditions and way of life.  The Chinese people have shown us(Rey, my husband and I) respect and treated us like their family…from the stores to the restaurants and of course, to our school where we teach.

The Lord helped me to establish a College Campus Bible Study Ministry at Zhongshan City Technical College together with my Chinese friends and a Canadian Professor there, his name is Brother Norman . Bro. Norman is also a missionary and his calling is in Solomon Islands. He’s  in China because he was waiting for the right time to go there. He and his Chinese wife, Sis Lisa offered us their dorm room to be used for the Bible Study,  for us to minister and teach the Chinese college students who are willing to join us and learn the Bible and teach them about Jesus Christ and His Grace.   It was an amazing experience! That was  God’s favor!  Then, after that,  I opened our home in Zhongshan City to start the “Learning English through the Bible” Home Cell Group Ministry for my Chinese friends who are willing to learn English.  Many of them wanted to improve their English pronunciation and also they wanted to practice Oral English Conversation with native speakers like me and the Lord gave me an idea to use my English teaching to connect with them and incorporate the English Bible Study in the lessons.

Being in a restricted country, the Lord opened doors of opportunities for me to be able to reach out to the Chinese community.  I am so deeply touched and blessed by these experiences.  I have learned a lot!  It helped me grew as a Christian Missionary.  I knew that the Lord used these experiences to help me get ready and for me to be prepared for the calling which He has for me to the land which He had called me to go to since April 2011…. the Land of Macau, China.

Hello Macau!  Yes, indeed! When the Lord told me these words: “Pack up your belongings, go and gather My people.”, I knew that it was time for me to say goodbye to Mainland China and time for me to go to Macau.  It was a very exciting moment!  Stepping out in faith and getting out of  my comfort zone were the keys to obeying the Lord’s calling for me.  Genesis 12:1-3 was His verse for me back in April 2011 and His one word for me was the word, “Commit” with the accompanying verse in Proverbs 16:3.   Truly, these were the signs of His calling for me… He was stirring up my spirit.  I was very restless with excitement in my heart and it seems like giving birth!

Lo and behold, by faith, I left Mainland China and went to Macau without any place to stay.  I arrived in Macau, February 14, 2015  in the evening then that same evening, the Lord provided me a bedspace to stay for the next 30 days for me to be able to establish the ministry.  I moved in to that bedspace the following day because the landlord needed to prepare it for me.

I just held on to God’s promises for me just before I left Mainland China and He spoke to my heart and impressed these words to me…”I have already prepared a place for you there!”  So, by faith, like Abraham, I went without knowing where to go but truly, there is blessing in obedience!  Faith is the key to knowing and seeing what is on the other side!  Without faith, I would never be able to see and experience what the Lord has promised me since April of 2011.

Lord God, You are truly an Awesome God and a Faithful God!

I am grateful because I obeyed and I have completely surrendered everything to you!  Thank you, Lord  for letting me to become strong and courageous no matter what lies ahead of me!

The Bible says in Philippians 4:13:

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Thank You, Lord for being my strength and my shield, my fortress and my strong tower!

What about my family?  I do believe that the Lord is continuously taking care of my family and I know that one day we will all be together!

I have faith that the best is yet to come and I am always looking forward to each and every day of my stay here in Macau…I do pray for a fruitful harvest and ministry here!

To my donors, leaders in faith, church and mission family and friends, to my dear readers of this blog, I thank you so much for your never ending prayers and support for this mission!

May the Lord abundantly bless you for being partners in this ministry!

To God be all the Glory!
